Music & Choir

The Grace Episcopal Church Adult Choir is both appreciated and loved by the congregation at large. Currently the Adult Choir is made up of 10 dedicated members—three sopranos, two altos, and five baritones and led by Choirmaster and Organist Sandra Allen who has trained, inspired and accompanied the choir since 1977.

In addition to leading the congregation in hymns and other service music, the Adult Choir sings a special anthem each Sunday and on special Holy Days from the month of September through Trinity Sunday, which is in May or June. We take a break from rehearsing and singing an anthem during the summer months, when Grace changes from two to one service each Sunday. The choir performs a wide range of musical styles from early composers such as Bach, Handel, and Haydn to 21st century composers.

Instrumentalists perform with the organ and sometimes the choir on Christmas and Easter and on other occasions. These instrumentalists, some of whom are congregation members, play flute, French horn, trumpet, or violin. Their special music enhances the music at Grace.

The choir meets each Wednesday night from 7:30-9:00 to prepare for music offerings for the upcoming Sunday and for special music for the Easter and Christmas seasons and other special days. The choir also celebrates its own ministry with a monthly birthday cake baked by choir member Maggi Odell.

We believe that children are an important part of our church family and they are fully welcomed to participate at all church events and activities. Intergenerational fellowship, formation and worship are one of the best parts of our life together. For children specifically, Sunday School (using the Godly Play model) is offered at 9:15.

Children (and grandchildren) are always welcomed to participate in church services, and there are small activity bags they may use for quiet activities.

A nursery for children 4 and under is available in the parish hall building from 9:00 until 12:00.

Baptism Godly Play Our Life Together

We Episcopalians believe in a loving, liberating, and life-giving God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe in following the teachings of Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection saved the world. We have a legacy of inclusion, aspiring to tell and exemplify God’s love for every human being; women and men serve as bishops, priests, and deacons in our church. Laypeople and clergy cooperate as leaders at all levels of our church. Leadership is a gift from God, and can be expressed by all people in our church, regardless of sexual identity or orientation. We believe that God loves you – no exceptions.

None must, some should, all may. While masks are no longer required at any of our events, they are currently suggested and those who would prefer to mask are welcomed. We know that many among us spend time with loved ones who are vulnerable (including very young children and elderly adults); please protect those closest to you and help us know how we can support you in that.
