Diapers with Grace

Diapers with Grace

At Grace Episcopal Church we know that God’s children have received grace freely, abundantly, and unearned. Sharing diapers with our community is our way of sharing this love by freely giving to the children who need help here in Pike Road.

Diaper Request Form

Need diaper assistance?

Grace Episcopal Church will supply supplemental diaper assistance through distributions on the third Saturday of the month from 9 to 11 for residents of Pike Road and surrounding areas. Applications need to be filled out in advance so that we can be prepared with the right number of diapers and sizes for those who have requested assistance. The application is available here.

Please note that we cannot accommodate specific requests for styles or brands, as we are dependent on donations. We do not take on any responsibility or liability whatsoever for products we are distributing.

Please remember that the diapers are for the intended child in need and not to be sold or distributed to other people. Depending on diaper size, each child will receive between 30 and 40 diapers.

Why diapers?

Diaper need is the struggle to provide a sufficient number of clean diapers to ensure that each diaper user can be changed out of wet or soiled diapers as often as necessary. Every parent and caregiver deserves the dignity of having what they need to keep their infants and toddlers healthy.

Keeping infants and toddlers clean, dry, and healthy is key to building a solid foundation for all children to reach their full potential. But one in three families struggles to provide clean diapers for their baby. Purchasing diapers is not covered by government systems (such as SNAP or WIC) because they are considered “hygiene items.”

Diapers and wipes needs can cost over $100 per month. This cost forces some families to reuse disposable diapers, or leave babies in diapers longer than they should, which can lead to diaper rash, infections and other health problems. Babies who have diaper rash tend to cry more. More crying, coupled with the stress of living in need, raises the chances of child abuse.

Additionally, most child care facilities require parents to provide diapers for their child, with a minimum number of diapers per day requirement. Nationally, 57% of parents experiencing diaper need who rely on child care said they missed an average of four days of school or work in the past month because they didn't have diapers.

Learn More about our Gardens

We believe that children are an important part of our church family and they are fully welcomed to participate at all church events and activities. Intergenerational fellowship, formation and worship are one of the best parts of our life together. For children specifically, Sunday School (using the Godly Play model) is offered at 9:15.

Children (and grandchildren) are always welcomed to participate in church services, and there are small activity bags they may use for quiet activities.

A nursery for children 4 and under is available in the parish hall building from 9:00 until 12:00.

Baptism Godly Play Our Life Together

We Episcopalians believe in a loving, liberating, and life-giving God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe in following the teachings of Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection saved the world. We have a legacy of inclusion, aspiring to tell and exemplify God’s love for every human being; women and men serve as bishops, priests, and deacons in our church. Laypeople and clergy cooperate as leaders at all levels of our church. Leadership is a gift from God, and can be expressed by all people in our church, regardless of sexual identity or orientation. We believe that God loves you – no exceptions.

None must, some should, all may. While masks are no longer required at any of our events, they are currently suggested and those who would prefer to mask are welcomed. We know that many among us spend time with loved ones who are vulnerable (including very young children and elderly adults); please protect those closest to you and help us know how we can support you in that.
